Adding Up Impact: Maine’s Nonprofits at Work
Jennifer Hutchins, MANP Executive Director
Can you imagine Maine without parks, libraries, hospitals, youth centers, food pantries, community groups or museums? Our state has one of the more robust nonprofit sectors in the country supported by one of the smallest philanthropic communities, demonstrating that Maine nonprofits are adaptive, innovative and efficient partners in shaping Maine’s future. As our communities strive toward prosperity, it’s important to understand the significant role nonprofits play in addressing shared challenges and opportunities working hand-in-hand with government and business.
With findings from MANP’s Adding Up Impact report, Jennifer Hutchins will provide a snapshot of the nonprofit sector’s impact on the Maine economy, including workforce and wage data as well as highlights of how nonprofits stimulate economic development, provide critical community infrastructure and cultivate quality of life throughout the state.
