BYOB (Bring Your Own Book)
Thursday, March 31, 2016
5:30 - 7:00 pm
Rising Tide Brewery, 103 Fox St, Portland
Open to the Public
Please join the Brick and Beam Society at Rising Tide Brewery to mingle with other "doers" in the community, as we support childhood education work in three different ways.
We're asking guests to bring a new or gently used book written by Mo Willems to donate. With your help, we hope to collect and donate 250 books for students in Westbrook Elementary Schools. Westbrook Schools run an annual author study series, and they requested Mo Willems books so students across the district can all read multiple books from the same author. Books from other authors will be graciously accepted too.
Bring one, bring two, bring ten. They're fun books to read, and they'll get local kids excited about reading at a critical time in their development. If you can't make the event and still want to donate a book, you can drop them off at United Way of Greater Portland, 1 Canal Plaza, Suite 300, Portland by 3/31.
At the event, you'll hear an update from the Brick and Beam Impact Investment Team on the process of investing your $70,000 in contributions back into the community for the greatest impact. The process is still ongoing, but the investment will focus around poverty in Greater Portland, particularly its impact on children and education.
To top it off, Rising Tide is donating $1 from every 10 oz. drink that day to the Brick and Beam Society, which will go into local childhood education projects through our investment process.
