The holiday season is about more than parties -- it's about giving back to the community we love. We’re holding our 2nd annual giving flash mob for kids in our community who are in need this season.
Last year, you helped us collect 244 pairs of mittens and gloves. Join us in shattering that record!
Between now and 12pm on December 9th, we're asking community members to collect as many NEW pairs of gloves/mittens/hats for boys and girls. Hats are especially needed among the elementary school population, as they can’t be shared!
Members of the Brick & Beam Society will be collecting donations between 12-1pm in Monument Square. All of the donations collected will be distributed to schools in the greater Portland area and then sent along to kids who need them the most this winter.
Can’t make it on the 9th? Order some hats and mittens off our Amazon Registry (https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/308I8O4ERIS3P?ref_=cm_sw_r_tw_ws_x_DcAqybZ5A7TD0&pldnSite=1) and have them shipped directly to United Way of Greater Portland, 1 Canal Plaza, Suite 3, Portland ME 04101.
If you have a little extra time that afternoon, stick around to celebrate the 4th Annual March to the Post Office at 1:30 pm, when seniors from Casco Bay High School parade down Congress Street from the Portland Museum of Art to the downtown post office to mail college applications. Kindergarteners from Riche Elementary School will lead the parade, and members of the public line Congress Street to cheer them on.
We hope you’ll join us, and invite friends and colleagues as well!
